Jalen is 8 Months Old!

Last week Jalen turned 8 months old. He can't quite crawl yet but he is trying hard to learn. He can drag himself some distance across the room. He can stand by hanging onto the coffee table or sofa. Sometimes he forgets that he doesn't know how to stand by himself and lets go of the sofa and falls down. He still loves any kind of food that you give him. We started giving him baby cereal puffs to keep him occupied when we eat dinner. He's mastered picking it up and shoving into his mouth. When we go out, we have to bring his baby food, formula, toys, bibs, spoon, finger foods just to keep him fed and entertained. He sits in the high chair really well now and loves being a part of the dinner table. He really likes to be the life of the party, just like daddy.

Oink Oink

My mom gave Jalen a pig puppet for Christmas. He really got the giggles when he heard the piggy go oink oink!

Jalen Holds His Bottle

Jalen is eager to hold his bottle when he's hungry but he still doesn't know how to tilt it properly so that he can get milk instead of air. Nevertheless, he loves to grab it and playing with it by turning it.

Jalen Plays with Tyler

We took Jalen to see Tyler last Sunday. These two boys haven't gotten together for almost 6 months.

At first Jalen wasn't happy to see Tyler and cried a lot.

Later, we went to Tyler's house and Jalen was in a better mood. Tyler already knows how to crawl and he's very mobile!

Here's Tyler, his cousin Preston and Jalen. Preston was born 2 days after Jalen. This is the first time we met him.

Seahawk Saturday

We spent last Saturday watching playoff football at Joon's house with Jalen. He didn't do too well with all the loud cheering. When people cheered he cried from the sudden screams. I had to take him away from the TV room so that he could nap and that made me miss the end of the game which was the best part! Oh well, maybe Jalen will do better this weekend.

After the game, Trenton came over to play with Jalen. It was late so Trenton was tired and he cried a lot. Jalen was in a great mood. Every toy that we put in front of Trenton Jalen just took it for himself. I think Jalen needs to learn how to share!

Jalen in Winter Gear

On my last trip to Canada in December, I picked out a few winter accessories for Jalen from Roots: a hat, furry slippers and mitts. We've got so many complements on the bear paw furry slippers. My parents also love the hat I think because it's just so goofy. They took some pictures of Jalen totally naked after a bath with just the hat.

Jungle Jalen

Jalen has outgrown his bouncy chair. He constantly tries to get out of it by reaching out and touching the ground. Today, Rick said that Jalen actually managed to flip over entirely in his chair by reaching out. I guess no more unsupervised playing in the bouncer!

Jalen's First Christmas

We spent our first Christmas as a family with Jalen in Seattle. We opened presents at our house with Rick's family. Jalen got a ton of new clothes and some new toys. It was a white Christmas! But we didn't take any pictures in the snow with Jalen because he was taking a nap.

Trenton came over for a visit on Christmas Day and we put them on the floor to play. At first both of them were quiet and didn't interact much. Then my mom threw a block at Jalen and it accidentally hit him in the face so he started crying. That started a symphony of cries between Trenton and Jalen.

Here's Jalen trying to console Trenton who is still traumatized by the earlier screaming and crying.

We went to a holiday get together at Steve and Elaine's house and Jalen loved the massage chair padding on the sofa! The vibrations made him jump and giggle.
