Weekend Trip to Vancouver

Here's Jalen eating his first McDonald's hamburger.

Jalen trying on some gold flip flops at BCBG.

Emmy's 3rd Birthday Party

Here's Jalen trying to kiss the birthday girl. They actually did share a couple of kisses but we didn't capture it on camera!

Here's uncle Steve offering Jalen a magical bunny cup cake. Mmm!

OK, who put baby on the floor? Not me!

What? Me playing with girly kitchen toys? Busted! Jalen and Tyler both loved the play kitchen. Tyler obviously takes after his daddy!

Jalen's Playdate with Mara

Last Friday, Rick's friend Ryan brought his wife and daughter over for a play date with Jalen. Ryan's daughter Mara is about one month older than Jalen. They got along really well and gave each other kisses and hugs. It was so cute.

Jalen's first big kiss with Mara!

Mara got into our kitchen cabinets and started handing the tupperware she found to Jalen while he ate dinner.

New Playground at Bellevue Square

Last weekend, we took Jalen to the new kids playground at Bellevue Square. It was big and filled with kids from babies to 5 year olds. Jalen was pretty shy at first then he finally warmed up when we coaxed him into crawling through the tunnel in the play ferry boat.

There was quite a traffic jam of kids in the tunnel.

Here's Jalen telling us that he needs us to wipe his nose.

Jalen Kicks Back Like Mommy

Here's Jalen taking a load off and relaxing on the sofa with mommy. Jalen is such a quick learner. He tries to imitate almost everything we do, like talking on the phone and using the TV remote. The other day, I told him we were going to take a bath so he took his diaper off and put it in the Diaper Champ himself.

Halloween

This year, we took Jalen to Bellevue Square for trick or treating. Jalen is wearing a home made dragon costume that we got from a family friend. We were worried that he wasn't going to like his costume after the Land Shark fiasco but all he needed was a little lollipop for encouragement.

Here's our little dragon with his pumpkin pail in one hand and his lollipop in another.

Here's Jalen getting candy from a scary dude.

Here's Tyler the Pooh and Jalen the magic dragon.

Jalen was such a big boy walking around on his own.

The mall was extremely crowded with trick or treaters. We didn't stay long. But Jalen really loved walking around on his own and getting candy. He lugged around his pumpkin pail with him for 2 days after Halloween.

Pictures from the China Trip

Here's Jalen and my dad at the Vancouver airport waiting for our flight to Shanghai. It was delayed by 2 hours.

12 very long hours later, we arrived in Shanghai. Jalen was up almost the entire flight which made it exhausting for Grandma and Grandpa and myself.

The next day, we had family over and Jalen discovered that he loves to play the piano! Well, banging on it was more like it.

Here's Jalen with two of my cousins, Stephy and Fiona. Fiona flew to Shanghai from Hong Kong just to see Jalen.

Thank goodness I brought the pack and play on this trip. Here's Jalen taking a nap it it.

the evening after we arrived, there was a big family dinner to welcome us. Here's Jalen all dressed up with his new gold necklace from his great grandpa.

Here's the extended Chen family with all of my father's siblings and children. My cousin Jesse is the only one missing, he lives in the UK.

Jalen was quite jet lagged. He was exhausted and cranky then finally passed out.

Most mornings he'd wake up at 6am whereas his usual wake time in the US is 8am. So I had no choice but to get up at 6am every morning as well.

This was my aunt's apartment complex that we stayed at.

There was a little playground in the complex and we took Jalen there often.

My cousin and I took him to the Shanghai zoo. There's a polar bear in the back if you look carefully.
