Baby Olympics

Last Sunday we took Jalen to Tyler's house to let the boys play together.

We put a piece of baby puff cereal on the floor to see who could get it first. Round 1 goes to Jalen!

Round 2 goes to Jalen also! 2-0!

Jalen loved playing in Tyler's car. He walked all around the kitchen.

Jalen does Preppy

Here's Jalen looking so handsome in his polo shirt and natural mohawk.

Jalen's looking sharp on his new ride. I had to get that car for Jalen after seeing it at Logan's house.

Jalen and his dad both looking very preppy in their sweaters.

Jalen in the Sleep Sack

We finally gathered up the energy to wean Jalen off his swaddle blanket. He's been so used to swaddling that he can't fall sleep with his arms free. It took a while getting him to sleep without being swaddled the first couple of days. But now he's getting better at sleeping with his arms out. The Sleep Sack keeps him warm but he's not constrained by it. He can even crawl and stand up while in it. Nowadays, we sometimes find him standing up in his crib when he wakes up in the morning.

Jalen Meets Mischa

Our friends Tammy and Mark welcomed the arrival of their daughter Mischa on Feb. 28th. We took Jalen to meet his latest girlfriend at the hospital. Mischa is just about Jalen's size when he was born. It's hard to remember what a tiny bundle he was.

Here's Jalen with Mischa and Audrey (7 months). He was a little shy around the girls.

Jalen says "hi" to Mischa.

We put Jalen in the bassinet and he banged his head against it. He's obviously not too happy about that.

Jalen Snoring

Jalen has had a stuffy nose for a while because of a cold. Last Saturday, we discovered him sleeping on his tummy and snoring away. You wouldn't think that all that snoring comes from such a little person!

Jalen is 9 Months Old!

We took Jalen to his 9 month check up today. The doctor says that he's doing great. He has a case of mild eczema on his face and his body. We have to continue to avoid using soap when we give him a bath except for his diaper area. He still has a rash on his face from all of the drooling. The doctor says to try to keep his face dry and put Vaseline on it to act as a barrier. I asked the doctor what kind of food we can give him and she said other than red fruits and vegetables, nuts and milk, we can pretty much give him anything else. Of course we should avoid salt and sugar but I'm looking forward to getting him to get used to the taste of all kinds of food. I especially want him to eat lots of veggies and whole grain breads.

Jalen weighed in at 22lbs (75%) and 30.5in (97%). His weight gain has slowed down a bit probably because of all the crawling and cruising that he's been doing!

Jalen Makes Razzies

We've been trying to get Jalen to copy things we do, like saying "mama" and "dada" or waving good bye. We haven't been very successful at getting him to copy, but one thing that he has learned is making "razzies". Here's a video of him doing that for a good while.
